So, figure we'd better make sure this radio actually works. Hellooooo convoy, this is Yang Xiao Long, in the yellow and black muscle car. You all picking this up, or am I just talking to myself here?

[Somebody grew up in the 80s and understood the appeal of CB Radios. He had never had the chance to try one in London. Everything he knew he learned from watching American television when he couldn't sleep-- he never dreamed it would come in handy.]
I'm Waver Velvet, in the van that looks like it went to Woodstock. It's frankly impressive that any of this works.

[Look at them all, trading trucker lingo like pros. Yang's proud'a ya, Waver.]
Hey Waver, nice to meet you. Another van driver, huh? [So that's at least two vans, counting Blake's. Might not be a bad idea to keep at least an idea of who all is in the Convoy.] For those of us who might be at a dimensional disadvantage here [like Yang.], what's Woodstock?
You're right about that. The cars need a bit of fixing up, but it looks like it's mostly just body work. Wouldn't have expected cars sitting out as long as these look to run so smooth.

[He heaved a sigh.]
Woodstock was a music festival that a lot of young people who were dissatisfied with the way that the world was going went to. They had their own culture of sharing what they had and working together.
People make fun of the Deadheads-- fans of a band called the Grateful Dead, one of the popular groups at the time, but they had a point.
... They liked vehicles like the one I found because they're fairly easy to keep in good repair without needing a mechanic. If they had a few tools and the part they needed, they could do it in in a parking lot somewhere.

Sounds like a group of people I'd have gotten along with. What kinda music?
That'll come in handy. Can't believe these vehicles won't need work sooner or later, so the more uncomplicated they are to fix, the better.
[Good thing Yang was able to scavenge some tools and get a bit of a repair kit started back at the gas station.]

I know there was a lot of tapes in here--
[There's a distorted, static sound over the radio as he leaned in and shuffled through the mess in the center console.]
I know I saw-- here.
[He popped the tape into the deck, and after a moment the twang of a funky guitar could be heard.]
... It's been a while since I listened. I'm on the opposite side of an ocean for this to be regularly played on the radio. The Internet has made international access a lot easier.
