I’m just a second-year student from Gekkoukan High. I like music, and I’m part of the Health Committee at school.


Oh yeah, I have another favor to ask. Would you mind telling me more about your monster affinity and how it’s affecting you? I’ve noticed that I run a lot faster now, and I’ve got these cute pointy ears. They weren’t there before. There are probably tons of things I haven’t noticed yet. I’ve come to accept these changes without much trouble.

I wonder how these things affect your daily life.

Leo!!! You have a cool name. Not really, I'm not a nurse. I just try to make sure people are taking care of themselves.

Back at home, we have this thing called Apathy Syndrome. It makes people say strange things, and they become so numb to the world around them. It's awful.

My school has an infirmary. A lot of students go there for different reasons.

Do you get sick often?

Travelling with the Convoy changed life more than the transformations, both fluctuating and not.

I could see that happening easily. We're always on the road, after all.

I already underwent a similar transformation before my arrival. The worlds I came from lack plants, yet there's no people here besides us.

The angels in mythology are usually depicted with huge wings.

In the legends, angels are known to come from a place called heaven. The archangels are demons in your world. Are they seen as evil?

I get that! Sometimes when you smell something foul it'll hit way harder than it should.

I’m Ren Amamiya and I’ll be a third year if I ever go back to school. My blood type is O, and I enjoy cooking and long walks on the beach at sunset.

I’m still not sure what I’m supposed to be turning into. All I have so far is some new magic abilities.

Hehe, my pointy ears kinda remind me of a cat! It doesn't get in the way of things too much. I figure this might just be the beginning of what's to come.

Do you feel any different, Ren-kun?

You're gaining feline traits as well, Shiomi-san?

I recently uncovered the ability to shift into a more cat-like monster myself, entirely unrelated to my typical chimeric state.

It also seems capable of wielding electricity, whereas my chimera form can manipulate wind, fire, and water.

Granted, as a chimera, I also have the sharpened hearing of a feline, not to mention my legs are more akin to a white tiger's. However, horns and avian traits are hardly comparable to a cat.

It looks that way! I'm not sure what it's supposed to be yet. We'll find out eventually, I guess!!

Cats are nimble, and they're great at seeing in the dark.

Those traits could come to your advantage without you even knowing.

They do have keen eyesight, hearing, and a strong sense of smell. Some of these traits already manifested in my chimera form.

Though, I can't say I mind retractable claws for tasks that require more dexterity. Even simple tasks with talons took significant adjustment.

They sound more useful for combat.

I've considered using these changes to our full advantage.

I can pick up cues from my environment based on vibrations I feel through my feet or hands. I'm also able to climb walls.

[He recently grew a second pair of arms as well, but he's not going to lead with that one.]

That kinda reminds me of a spider! Being able to climb up walls sounds useful.

Are your senses bothering you at all?

Yes, it is like being a spider, in a way.

No, they don't bother me. [Forlorn sigh.] I was blinded shortly before arriving here. The vibrations allow me more independence than I'd otherwise have.

I'm happy they don't bother you too much! Sometimes these changes happen without any warning. You could suddenly find yourself with eye colors that don't match.

What I'm interested in is how these physical changes affect us mentally. My hearing is sharper than before. That's one thing I've noticed too.
