If there are any other engineers or tech-savvy Drifters among us that aren't waterbound, Viktor and I won't dismiss the assistance with the generator. We're doing our best to get it running, or at least construct temporary vehicle augumentations to reinforce our defenses in the mean time. They'll be bare bones and have a short life span, but it's better than nothing. That being said, my current projects will be temporarily postponed until further notice. If I'm not working parts, I'm gathering wood, and I can only step outside at dusk.

[ or if he snows in the damn place but uhhhh no thank you! ]

Donnie and Danse, you'll hear back from me when your respective requests are finished. I haven't forgotten any of them.

In the meantime, if you come across any generator parts, bring them to us as soon as possible, please. Any remnants of metal, elements, chemicals or hands to help with the wood would be valued if you can find or offer— I'll trade my work for it, if you have the patience for a queue. I can do minor fixes where needed.

Any questions, you can ask them here or come to the forge. It's hard to miss.

[ it's the only lisa frank pick up for miles. the thing is hard to miss, especially when jayce is working the little cargo bed forge he's built over the last two months. characters are welcome to come visit directly while he's working at night; smoke signals and his hammer (hand sized, not the big one) pounds throughout the late hours, while he's asleep or within the convoy from sunrise to sunset. ]

[Fortunately for both of them, Edward is from a time period where blacksmiths and forges were still a thing--one slowly dying out, admittedly, but definitely still a thing--and he recognises the sounds of them easily enough.]

[When he gets confirmation that he's in the right place, Edward stops where he is and stands still. He tilts his head slightly at the sound of someone approaching; he picks up the unevenness in the man's gait, and the heaviness of his steps. The vibrations through his own feet, bare and directly in contact with the ground, tell him there's something different about this man's feet. They're too heavy, too inflexible, to be normal human feet. Is he wearing prosthetics?]

[It doesn't matter. Edward is too polite to bring it up. Instead, he offers his right hand and a tentative smile in the direction of the man's voice.
]

No, I didn't give it. I'm Edward Courtenay, and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

[Up close, the scars on his temples and the grey blurring over his pupils is very apparent.]

[Edward has been consciously choosing to not reveal that he's blind until the issue is forced; then, he approaches it head-on and doesn't try to hide it. He would rather people get to know him a bit first, before they start making assumptions about his capabilities.]

[Jayce, to his credit, isn't saying anything and Edward appreciates that. Perhaps the other man is disabled as well, based on that awkward, dragging gait.
]

A bit, yes. What I don't know, I can learn quickly.

[He ducks his head, a gesture he's picked up since losing his sight.]

I don't know if the time period will mean anything to you, but I left my world in the year 1917. That is, to many here, decades if not centuries in the past. My technological knowledge may be antiquated, compared to yours.

no worries at all!

[Edward perks up at Jayce's response.]

Tongs, yes. I know what tongs are.

[This is going better than he'd hoped.]

Where can I lend my assistance?

[How is it that people in this world know exactly what to do to accommodate Edward's blindness, with none of the awkwardness of his own world? Edward follows Jayce's directions and waits for further ones, blinking when Jayce asks for his hand.]

Of course.

[He offers it.]

Thank you for asking. Sometimes people don't, and it startles me.

[It isn't done maliciously, Edward knows, but it's still very, very nice to be around someone who has so flawlessly picked up on exactly what he needs.]

May I ask, do you know anyone else who is blind? You seem as though you've met someone like me before.
