Unless you're Akihiko. If you're Akihiko, stop listening. [He means that last part in a sort of tongue-in-cheek way, except that he has neither of those things.]

[Ah, pizza. The dish that, it is said, united all people of the galaxy in their love of. Unfortunate that Roger is unable to taste it, to form an opinion on it for himself. Still, he's no stranger to making it.]

Well that's pretty vague. What kind? What toppings?

Pretty much any kind and any toppings. My go-to is usually pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, and onion. But I mix it up. And there's this yokai place that has a creepy special that's pretty good.

[Does anyone want to hear about the creepy special?]

[He probably doesn't want to know what that is, but it does seem to beg elaboration.]

Why would they call something that?

It’s got these squirmy tentacle things on it! I dunno what they’re actually from, but they taste good.

[It probably excites some part of his turtle brain. If he hadn’t mutated, he’d be eating bugs and live fish, after all.]

Oh. Those seem pretty normal. [He's made a few dishes that use still moving tentacles. Not with pizza specifically, but still.]

I don't know that I've seen anything here like that, but I bet it won't be long before something with tentacles tries attacking us while we're here.

Well, if they're tasty, I'm willing to try 'em!

[He does have some standards for what he eats, but this is within them.]

When that inevitably happens, I'll try to cook up something out of them.

I'm not going hunting, though. Someone else is going to have to deal with that part. [Roger is pretty confident that he would lose a fight against this hypothetical monster, even without knowing virtually any details about it.]

Oh, I can do that part! I defeated a kraken once, can’t be that hard to do it again.

[Of course, that time he carefully manipulated the situation such that he’d have exactly what he needed to defeat the kraken… but he’s almost two years older and a lot tougher now, so it’s probably fine.]

Pretty impressive. [Roger didn't know Krakens were real, aside from one Separatist general named after the myth. Still, he assumes there's probably an animal out there somewhere in all these universes that fits the bill.] I almost got eaten by a dianoga once. They're pretty kraken-like.

Never heard of it. Does it have tentacles?

[That’s really all that matters.]

You bet. And eyestalks that stick out of the water. Dianogas are very creepy. [Certainly worthy of the creepy special.]

Haha, what? That sounds more like a crab.

[He's having a hard time picturing what this thing even looks like. The image in his head is pretty funny, though.]

[Not long after, Leo is texted an image of a dianoga.]

But a lot of the time they just stay underwater, so you don't ever see the whole thing.

Whoa. That looks like a freaky octopus. ...But hey, octopus tastes great! Ever had takoyaki? Calamari?

[Calamari is squid, Leo... but close enough.]

I don't eat. [Normally, he would probably assume that calamari just refers to Mon Calamari cuisine. He knows there are cephalopod dishes on Dac. But that doesn't make sense, because he's pretty sure Leo isn't from his galaxy.] What do you mean, Calamari?

It's like, when you take the tentacles and deep fry them. It's pretty good!

...Wait, what do you mean you don't eat? [That's a surprise.] Why are you wanting to cook, then?

[That seems like a different thing than he was thinking, then. Maybe something worth looking into later.]

I'm a droid. And it's still fun to make food, even if I don't eat it.

A droid? Like, a robot?

[That’s a new term on him.]

I guess that makes sense, though… You and my brother Mikey probably would have hit it off.

Like a robot, yes. Technically I fall into that category. [He sounds somewhat annoyed, or at least exasperrated, answering that. Leo isn't the first Drifter to call him one, and while he wouldn't say it's innaccurate, it is a little bit insulting in the wrong context. It connotes that he is unintelligent, like what an animal is to a human.

Still, the annoyed tone doesn't stay long.] Well I'd love to meet him, then. [He doesn't know anything about Leo, and he doesn't know anything about his family, but the mere suggestion from anyone that he'd get along with someone is reason enough for him to want to.]

[Leo isn’t quite sure what he said to make Roger annoyed. He doesn’t think Shelldon would mind being called a robot… then again, he’s never asked.

He does chuckle at that response, though.]

I’m sure he’d like that. But let’s just hope you never meet him here.
