Ren climbs into the back of the van when Blake makes room for him, quiet and careful so as not to disturb Yang. He kneels next to her and sits back on his heels, studying her silently for a moment with a hand folded underneath his chin. This is definitely like nothing he’s ever seen before.
Finally, Ren nods to himself, resolved to give his best effort, even if he’s uncertain about whether he has the power to reverse this change. He gently takes one of Yang’s hands in both of his, closes his eyes, and concentrates.
The first time he accidentally tapped into this ability, he’d been with Akechi, fervently wishing to take the other boy’s pain into himself and leave him with peace in its place. Ren does the same now for Yang, envisioning himself as a magnet to safely draw out whatever it is that’s plaguing her and causing the metal covering to form.
A wispy shimmer of green energy begins to appear where their hands are joined. It grows larger and larger, swirling to envelop Yang like a cocoon. Ren continues to focus, and the cloud of energy continues to build, and Ren continues to slide deeper and deeper into the effort of channeling his inner strength into the task of healing …
… Until he suddenly goes slack and slumps to the van’s floor next to Yang, unconscious. Oops. The cloud dissipates.
Ren does not succeed in reviving Yang. He does, however, succeed at making the metal covering her extremely clean and shiny.]
