Hello? Hello! This is Jack.

Um, I am in one of the back trailers in the second convoy. And I have found sewing supplies and more fabric, and I thought, well, some of us have been going through, erm, changes. These can be hard on our clothing or make wearing certain clothing difficult.

I am not the best tailor in the world, I cannot make a patch or mended tear invisible or create clothing from scratch, but I know how to mend very well if you do not need it to be invisible. Also I can probably take your old clothes and alter them to fit you better.

I will be down here all evening if you would like to stop by. I will try to be here most evenings after dinner but before bed in case anyone needs help fixing your clothes. Okay? Okay.

[And with that slightly distracted-sounding final note, as the sound of fabric rustling around marks him getting back to work, he signs off.

He will indeed be down in the shops section of the convoy all evening, working diligently to patch, mend, repair, and alter clothing for anyone who comes by. If no one comes by, he's working on his own clothes or trying to work out how to make a pattern so he can learn how to make clothes from scratch, preferably with as little wasted material on mistakes as possible. He has no idea if he will ever find more, after all.]

"It's probably not the same. I only have some language modules, and the context doesn't always carry over." It's seen so many weird gestures and had to figure out whether they're supposed to be aggressive/insulting from context. So many. Not to mention the number of people who think a SecUnit's neural tissue isn't advanced enough for it to understand things like sarcasm. Or context.

More importantly, though... it's realizing its mistake. "No. I've... got the files saved." In its head. "I don't have a way to play them yet." Or it does, but it probably shouldn't hook itself up to the Convoy's tech just to play movies. Installing them on people's devices is one thing, but playing them directly is a bit too much like being an appliance for its tastes.

Jack nods, accepting the explanation. "Maybe we can find something in one of these trailers that has a video input," he offers. "If you want to watch them again. Do you have many dramas saved?" He has very little idea what the storage space in a SecUnit's brain might be. He has very little idea what the storage space in a regular computer might be, really, he's modern but he's not knowledgeable about things like that-- and SecUnit is probably better than a boring old computer.

Well. Not among us here in this convoy, hopefully, at least. Being a werewolf from another world may not interest the hounds as much as having six tails in this one, regardless.

[Confession made, he's ready to get back to the practicals. He moves to his seat at the table, taking the shirt and blazer with him now.]

I can tidy these up, add a roll seam to the edges so they do not fray. Hmm, I could also, if you wanted, cut down through here and add buttons that will fasten under the wings? So you can take them on and off even if the wings remain for a time.

Buttons aren't a terrible idea. They'd certainly help the back of the shirt and blazer look a bit more presentable, and I will need to account for the size of the wings, should they return...

[He follows Jack toward the table, curious to watch him work. Tailoring is hardly in his wheelhouse, but it is an interesting prospect to see it in action.]

I will do that, then.

[Jack half-turns in his chair to get to the open cabinet behind him, plucking out a pair of fabric scissors, and starts to carefully cut down to the bottom hem on the shirt.]

There is another chair, if you would like to sit.

“Uuuuugh…”

Man, this sucks. But Jack is right that this is currently his only option.

“Fine, whatever. Let’s do it.”

Indeed.

[V shares another small smile with Jack.]

It is very knowledgeable about what can go wrong otherwise, that is for sure.

[V can respect that level of protective exasperation on behalf of one's team.]

... I can also help repair or improve our vehicles, depending on what supplies we find.

Ah. Thank you.

[Akechi pulls the chair out, then sits down, resting his hands in his lap.]

I'll have to consider any other changes. If those horns return, I'll undoubtedly have to drill holes in my motorcycle helmet, and even then, they're hooked like Loki's horns, which complicates matters.

[Heh. Funny how that happens, really.]

[Jack can respect it, too. He literally called his best friend and favorite person "a pain in the ass who I have to save all the time". Love can come hand in hand with exasperation.]

I might take you up on that. I can do some very basic things. I can fix a flat tire or repair a hose or change the oil, but anything beyond that and I am not as good.

[Jack looks up from his work curiously.]

Loki's horns?

[There's a Loki in Jack's universe. His horns are part of a helmet. Jack thinks, anyway, he's only seen TV footage of him, and mostly from a distance. But Asgardians mostly don't have actual horns, he's pretty sure.]

[V nods, becoming another notch more comfortable with it all.]

I can provide instruction, hands-on guidance. Or we can work more as a team.

[Triage and so forth.]

"I can let you pick a color," Jack offers by way of potential mollification. He does have to add, apologetically, "From a somewhat limited range. But still."

He turns back to the cabinets behind his work table, opening them to show the rolls, folded stacks, and less-folded scavenged fabrics. The colors are indeed limited, but there's still some to choose from. Should he want his trademark color, there is full roll of some blue jersey.

Uncomfortable now, SecUnit shifts, shrugging. "It's fine," it says, maybe not wanting to admit that it was ignoring Jack to watch media not ten minutes ago. "If you want to watch one I'll find a way to send it."

There's got to be something, even if it's just someone with a solid-state screen device it can set things to. In the meantime it crosses its arms, watching Jack and the jacket he's still got before him.

"It's all right. I keep myself busy," Jack assures it. Case in point, even as they've been talking, he's been working the hem on SecUnit's sleeve. His hands are always busy when he talks, whether it be with work or punctuating his speech. "I would not have anything to watch it on, either." He flashes it a smile. "Thank you for offering, though."

He holds up the sleeve, considering the hem, then makes another few stitches. "There. Come take this and try it on? If it is the right length, then you can take it back."

"Well, blue is always my signature color," he says, giving his mask tails a flip like they're the ends of his hair.

He comes over to take a look, pulling at the blue fabric. Interesting...

"Blue's gotta be an easy color to find, right?"

He knows nothing about fabrics or dyeing.

From the speed SecUnit stops pretending to be casually hanging around and comes over to take the jacket back, it's been downplaying how uncomfortable the whole prospect of removing its outer layers has left it. It holds out its hand for the jacket, and once it's give, promptly tries the thing on.

There is at least a half-second where it checks the length of the sleeve, and gives an experimental tug at the stitched parts to make sure the entire thing won't come unraveled with the movement. Then it glances at Jack - not quite meeting his eye, but checking to see whether he seems satisfied enough with his work.

I do like learning new things. I wouldn't say no to you showing me how to fix more things in our cars.

Jack looks over it critically, then nods firmly. "It looks like it will hold. If it does not, bring it back to me and I can fix it again. Hopefully better that time, if it falls apart that quickly," he adds with a wrinkled nose.

"I'm trying not to hope I will find intact fabric big enough to actually make full clothes from," Jack warns. "Most of what I have scavenged so far is only a yard or two at most. If you like blue, this might be the best to work with for now. There is enough here for me to make a few things with, probably." It's one of the more complete rolls of fabric. Maybe the leaders of this convoy thought blue would be popular.

It is appreciated, to hear you say that.

[It is sometimes alarming just how many people here don't know cars at all.

They could probably do more in the way of tutoring, really. Even if they are not the most social.]

[Jack pats their arm lightly, continuing the way down the hall, chatting at least until they reach the dining trailer for a snack before bed.]

"It probably won't be your fault. There's a lot of monsters here."

Said with the casual assurance that SecUnit will of course be fighting more of them - though Jack's offer of repair does stick out in its brain, It might actually have to find some back-ups. Which means scavenging for itself.

With that in mind it starts to turn for the door to the cab, only pausing for another half-second, just in case Jack comes up with some last-minute addition that really does need to be made.

As it should be, because it's the best color!

Leo nods along. He knows it's too much to hope for a whole color-coordinated wardrobe, but he's happy to get a few things.

"A few things is all I really need," he says, waving it off. "Like I said, I just want to get too cold. ...And I don't know, maybe I need to protect against sunburn...?"

He actually doesn't know if turtles can get sunburn. Huh.

Jack waves it off amiably with a smile. "Go, go. I have kept you long enough. You know where to find me if it is torn again." And he shuffles back to his table to get back to work on other projects. He can recognize that SecUnit is ready to get going, and probably was ready a while ago.

"Something with a hood maybe. Or a scarf?" Jack humms, and picks up a fabric tape measure. "All right, I will need to measure you. I have to be sure I use enough fabric, you know? I will try to be quick." He doesn't get the feel from Leo that he's like SecUnit and wants to be touched as little as possible, but he also isn't going to be excessive about it.
